relocate to be a police officer somewhere else?
i was hoping to apply to become a delaware state police officer now that i'm out of college and 21 years old. the problem is that the state of de has blocked employment for new candidates due to lack of funding. this block is indefinite at the moment with no end in sight until jan 2009 at the very earliest (if i'm lucky).
so is it possible to apply to become a state police officer in another state anywhere in the u.s. and then simply relocate before the term of employment would begin? i'm willing to go anywhere in the u.s. and money is not really an issue. i'm just really passionate about law enforcement...
i just want to make sure i don't have to be a resident before i apply...
Most departments have a state residency requirement at time of hire, not application. Most have web sites with employment information sections. Wa. State has a shortage of officers at State, County and City level. Some pay hiring bonus and relocation costs. Start your search on line and you will find more than you ever wanted to know.
